Coaching
Coaching
is simply a style of counseling. Before insurance companies or managed
care took interest in helping provide services, counseling did
not
involve diagnoses, pathology labels or any regulation from outside
mental health experts. Sessions were kept between you and
your counselor or therapist. This is still available to thoses
who request no notes be kept of their sessions.
That said, coaching like personal counseling or psychotherapy, assists
us in making changes we decide to make. Using a trained person will expedite our
progress, helping avoid unconscious stalling, so that change
is made more readily.
How to prepare:
- clarify how life would look different 6 to 8 weeks
from now, or 6 months from now
- review what has gotten in the way of
reaching goals before
- know
what would be helpful: whether you need a touch stone, a place to be
challenged, a place to lessen life's pressures, or some combination
Coaching
sessions with Janette are offered in sets of four. They will help
streamline your thinking and simplify your view of what needs doing.
Sometimes the issues brought to coaching are less intense than those
brought to therapy, or people seeking the sessions have more
personal-supports and self-resilience available.
